Lake Information

Lake Carl Blackwell is a family oriented recreational area which offers sand beaches, swimming, fishing, boating, 24-hour on-water fuel marina, a lake side convenience store, water skiing, camping, hiking, hunting, and miles and miles of exceptional equestrian riding trails -- all of which we hope you will agree, are the finest inside the borders of the Great State of Oklahoma.

A mid-sized lake of 3,350 acres inside 53 miles of secluded shoreline and conveniently located between Oklahoma City and Tulsa on Highway 51C, approximately 8 miles West of Stillwater. Only a one hour drive from both Oklahoma City and Tulsa -- simply the best kept secret of central Oklahoma.

Camping is available year-round. The lake is well known to produce large Saugeye, Hybrid Bass and Black Bass and rest assured, the Crappie and Catfish are always hungry.

Lake Safety Update

Small area of infestation of Yellow Floating Heart set for treatment

The presence of the invasive lily species Yellow Floating Heart was drastically reduced at Lake Carl Blackwell in 2019 after a successful treatment of ProcellaCor, an EPA-approved selective herbicide. ProcellaCOR has been shown to be safe in a public water supply and non-toxic to invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles and mammals.

A spot treatment of ProcellaCor covering approximately 2 acres will take place Sept. 21, 2023, weather permitting, to further reduce the plant’s presence and prevent it from spreading. The area being treated is less than 0.09%  of the lake’s 3,370-acre surface.

YFH is a non-native invasive species that is banned in many states and countries because of its tendency to take over bodies of water. It outcompetes native species and alters the ecology of whatever it inhabits. Lake Carl Blackwell is the only reservoir in Oklahoma known to be infested with YFH.
